Camp Simmie is officially known as Simmie Lutheran Bible Camp. It is run by a non-profit association that exists to operate the camp. Its mission is to do the work of the Lord Jesus Christ and to help others in that mission by teaching, training and refreshing all of God's children.
SLBC was started by the region's Lutheran churches and still has a Lutheran base of support and doctrine.
This camp began in 1935 with the ¼ section purchased by the Simmie Lutheran Bible Camp Association from Mr. Chomsland. At this time, the community was mainly of Norwegian Lutheran descent. They came together under tents and had special speakers come in for a few days around a weekend.. A cabin was finally built for the speaker (The Old Green Cabin), which is still standing in the camp and in the original location. They had a vision! As a board, our plan is to keep that vision alive and well and moving forward!
It is our desire to give you and your family a place to be able to worship our living God in a setting that shows His handiwork.
The setting of Camp Simmie is one of uniqueness. The springs that run through the camp affords a coolness to the valley that is not found outside on the hillside.
If you like to explore, wear good shoes and enjoy a walk. The camp owns about 80 acres and this valley is only a small part of it!
If you have any questions regarding Camp Simmie, please call the registrar.
We would love to have you join us for the week!!
